Helping Students Succeed with Project CARE Plus
What is Project CARE
Plus and How Does It Work?
Project CARE Plus stands for Citizens Active in Reading Education Plus. This program is an academic mentoring program that assists the students in their classroom learning process. Volunteer mentors can help with reading, mathematics, writing, science and more. Teachers identify the areas in which students in their classes need additional help. Teachers plan activities for Mentors to complete with the identified students. When necessary, Mentors are given training to help them better understand and complete an activity with students. In addition, Mentors help students greatly by giving them confidence and assistance so they can achieve and feel successful. Great attention is given to matching Mentors to students’ and classroom teachers’ needs and interests.
