Course Description:  6th grade-----As part of Blackhawk’s bullying prevention effort the Life Literacy Skills class will involve students in activities that stress respect for others, empathy, conflict resolution and social skills development to emphasize our commitment to promote a safe and caring learning environment.  Students will also work collaboratively on children’s books for elementary classrooms. 

Course Description:  7th grade-----The focus of this class is digital literacy.  Students will investigate various websites assessing their validity and analyze photos to make inferences in regards to purpose and meaning. Students will create a book trailer and give a presentation showing their understanding of images and content found on the Internet. 



Course Description: 8th grade - Middle school is an important time in students’ lives. They have made new friends, learned new subjects and have changed physically and emotionally. The Life Literacy Skills class provides students with an opportunity to reflect on these experiences. Students will write anecdotes and poetry and create collages to illustrate memorable moments from middle school that will be showcased in a scrapbook.
