Develop a plan for facilities that supports 21st Century Learning
A community
Strategic Planning Committee formed in April 2009 to set the district’s goals for the next five years. This committee again identified buildings as a priority in Goal #4.
The Board of Education approved a Master Facilities Planning effort in January 2010 to re-examine the issue, with the goal of creating a wider community engagement plan to involve more stakeholders in the decision-making process and to develop a plan that the community can embrace.
The effort will be guided by a Core Planning Committee made up of 20 to 30 volunteers who represent all district stakeholders and facilitated by educational planning consultant, Amy Yurko, president of Chicago-based
BrainSpaces, a nationally recognized firm that provides school planning services to districts across the country.
