CogAT Testing - Week of March 13, 2017
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a group-administered K-12 assessment intended to estimate students' learned reasoning and problem solving abilities through a battery of verbal, quantitative and nonverbal test items.  The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a multiple choice test written by Dr. David F. Lohman and published by Riverside Publishing.  It is used to measure cognitive development among children, and is often used to identify gifted children for admissions into gifted and talented programs across the United States.
At Johnson we will begin CogAT Testing during the week of March 13, 2017.  Tests will be administered to all students in 2nd and 5th grades, and 3rd and 4th grade students as specifically recommended by the classroom teacher.
There is no special preparation needed for CogAT Testing.  Parents can always help by making sure children eat a good breakfast, get a good night's sleep and arrive at school on time.

STUDENT COUNCIL-COLLECTING POP TOP TABS FOR A CAUSE
Johnson's Student Council is collecting pop top tabs for a good cause - to support families at Ronald McDonald House.  Once collected, the pop top tabs are recycled by the charity's recycling partner, United Scrap Metal.  The charity will then receive the market value of the recycled metal, plus a charitable match from United Scrap Metal.  Every Advisory has a collection bin and you can watch our collection grow in the large bin by the office.  Please send your pop tabs in with your child and help support a very worthy cause.

    JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Jump Rope for Heart is over for 2017.  Johnson students raised a whopping $7500.00 for Heart research.
