Assessments
Overview
Throughout the school year, students are assessed utilizing different tools to measure their progress and prepare them for the state
Illinois Standards Achievement Test.
Illinois Standards Achievement Test
This is the annual state standardized test that is given to all Illinois students on the same days. ISAT testing is held during the first two weeks of March. Students are given one to two tests a day and do not spend the whole day testing. All students in grades three through eight are tested in reading and mathematics. Students in grades four and seven are tested in science. The results of this test are used to measure the school’s and the district’s Adequate Yearly Progress, as determined by the state under the
No Child Left Behind Act.
MAP Testing
MAP means Measure of Academic Progress, and occurs four times a year. It is a computer-based test developed by
Northwest Evaluation Association that helps both students and teachers identify skills and concepts students have learned, where additional instruction is needed, and how much a student grows in knowledge over the course of the school year. These tests also give an indication on how students will perform on the state standardized test.
