Monday, November 18, is the end of the first trimester. On Monday, December 2, first-trimester report cards will be sent home with elementary students, and mailed to middle school students' homes.
The Illinois State Board of Education has released the 2024 Illinois Report Cards. The budget authorizes about $46.4 million of revenue, and $57 million in expenditures, including $11 million for the renovation of Blackhawk Middle School. The renovation costs are being paid for with cash on hand from before the year began. Without the renovation costs, the budget has a modest surplus of about $600,000, or 1.3 percent of revenue.
District 2 now calls eLearning Days when closing schools due to extreme weather. An eLearning Day counts as a regular school day, and does not require the District to use a built-in emergency day at the end of the school year.
