NEW SUPERINTENDENT: BSD2 Board names Dr. Katie McCluskey the District’s new leader
Dr. McCluskey has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Accountability for Glen Ellyn District 41 since July 2017. She will begin her work in District 2 on July 1, 2022.

SHIELD UPDATE: COVID screening has concluded for the current school year
Monday, May 16, was the final SHIELD screening of the 2021-2022 school year in District 2. Testing will not be offered during the last week of the school year, or for summer school and summer enrichment programs.

POWERSCHOOL: Everyone will benefit from the District’s new student information system
PowerSchool supports more than 45 million students globally, including those at Fenton High School. Its user-friendly interface makes it a much easier system to navigate for all users, particularly parents, and its numerous customized reports will help the District identify trends and measure their impact in areas such as attendance, discipline, and grading.

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE: eLearning Days have replaced emergency ‘snow days’
District 2 will now call eLearning Days when closing schools due to extreme weather. An eLearning Day will count as a regular school day, and will not require the District to use a built-in emergency day at the end of the school year

AVOID COVID & QUARANTINE: If your child is fully vaccinated, submit a copy of their verification card
Fully vaccinated students are not required to quarantine if exposed to someone with COVID. If your child has received the COVID vaccine, please complete our confidential online vaccination verification form. The information collected from it will be essential in assisting us in keeping students and staff safe.

NEW BOARD MEMBER: Jacqueline Dye appointed to fill vacant seat
After interviewing four applicants, the BSD2 Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Jacqueline Dye to fill a vacant seat on the Board. Mrs. Dye will officially join the Board at its next regular business meeting on Wednesday, November 17.

ALL ABOARD: Keeping up with the BSD2 Board of Education is easier than ever now
BSD2 Board of Education meetings have always been open to the public, and the materials Board members review in those meetings are always public documents, available to anyone upon request. Now, though,it is easier than ever for District 2 parents, staff and residents to keep up with the BSD2 Board. No need to attend meetings in person. No need to request copies of the Board’s agenda packets.

CHROMEBOOKS: Parents, please review the District's take-home policy
As part of the District 2 One-to-One Chromebook Initiative, all students in Grades K-8 have received a District-owned Chromebook to use this school year.

MONEY MATTERS: District 2 Board of Education approves 2021-2022 budget
The budget authorizes about $43.6 million of spending, paid for with about $41.3 million in new revenue and $3.75 million of cash reserves to cover costs related to the expansion of the Bensenville Early Learning Center at Tioga School.
