PBIS RAFFLE
Ready for a Raffle?
Get your HERO tickets ready, friends, because a Tioga School raffle is coming your way for Grades 1-5!
Between November 30 and December 4, you can choose to redeem one set of HERO tickets for one raffle ticket.
Raffle prizes include a variety of STEM toys. The grand prize is a family pass for five for the Brookfield Zoo Holiday Magic Lights Show with one free parking pass!
Raffle winners will be announced on Monday, December 7.

HERO PRIZE PICK-UP SCHEDULE
Students are working hard to earn their HERO tickets during remote learning!
When your child has enough tickets to redeem, they may choose a virtual prize through their classroom teacher. Another option, however, is to choose a prize that you can pick up from the school! These prizes include a variety of snacks and small toys and trinkets.
Please follow the instructions at the link below to pick up your child’s HERO Prize from the school.

REOPENING UPDATE: Return to hybrid, in-person instruction tentatively slated for February 9
The BSD2 Board of Education approved a February 9 return to hybrid, in-person instruction during its January 20 meeting. The decision follows our region’s January 18 return to Tier 2 mitigations due to positive local COVID infection trends.

THE HYBRID MODEL: Need-to-know info about schedules and cohorts
District 2 must comply with health department social distancing requirements in order to return to in-person instruction on February 9. So, under the District’s hybrid model, approximately half of grade-level students who have chosen to return to in-person instruction will attend school two days a week according to their assigned cohorts.

NEED FOOD? Northern Illinois Food Bank hosting free pop-up pantry Monday at Tioga
Northern Illinois Food Bank is delivering a mobile food pantry on Monday, February 1, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Tioga School, 212 W. Memorial Road in Bensenville.

BENSENVILLE YOUTH COALITION: Wednesday parent webinar addresses 'Parenting in the New Age of Anxiety'
The series' first session of the year is Wednesday, January 27, from 7-8 p.m. Dr. John Duffy will deliver a presentation titled "Parenting in the New Age of Anxiety: Understanding Your Child’s Stressed, Depressed and Amazing Adolescence."

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Two new confirmed cases from Tioga
Two staff members were diagnosed with COVID since January 17. Both are from Tioga School, one of them part-time. Both will remain away from the District until meeting requirements set by the state and county health departments. There were no close contacts.

NEED FOOD? District 2 distributing FREE breakfasts and lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays
NOTE: Rather than disrupt our pattern of delivery, the District will distribute free meals on Monday, January 18, even though there's no school in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

NUTRITIOUS & DELICIOUS: Free healthy cooking classes for BSD2 families
District 2 is hosting FREE workshops with nationally-recognized nutritionist Sylvia Meléndez Klinger. Classes are conducted via ZOOM on Wednesday, January 20, and Wednesday, January 27, and are offered in Spanish from 5-6 p.m, and English from 6-7 p.m.

TRULY HONORED: BSD2 Board, Superintendent agree on three-year contract extension
The new contract will extend Dr. Stelter's service to the BSD2 community through mid-2024. Key goals in the contract include student achievement, growth and continuous learning, student life and safety, and managing resources efficiently and effectively.

READY TO R.E.A.D.: New partnership provides an in-person child care and remote learning support program for school-age children
In response to local community needs, Bensenville School District 2, Tri- Town YMCA, and St. Alexis Parish have partnered to offer flexible options for families through their new Remote Enrichment At District 2 (READ) program for children enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade.

GROWN-UPS GROW, TOO: Birth-to-3 Program offers a variety of early childhood parent workshops
Bensenville School District 2, Head Start, and Madison ECE Center from District 205 have partnered to offer virtual parent workshops for the school year 2020-2021.

GET TESTED: VNA COVID-19 Testing Center available in Bensenville
VNA will serve all patients with insurance regardless of whether it accepts their insurance plan for COVID-19 services. Individuals without insurance are also served and this is done at no cost to them.
