  • FREE & REDUCED-PRICE MEAL APPLICATIONS

    Families must apply each year to participate in the free and reduced-price meal program. On Friday, September 27, students from families who have not reapplied will no longer be enrolled in the program, and will not receive free or reduced-price meals until a new application is submitted and qualifications to participate in the program are reviewed.

  • BPAC - NOTE TIME CHANGE!

    Join the BSD2 Bilingual Parent Advisory Council for its first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 26, from 6-7 p.m. at Tioga School, 212 W. Memorial Road in Bensenville. The meeting will showcase clubs and other opportunities available to students, parents and community members throughout the 2019-2020 school year. (NOTE TIME CHANGE!)

  • Blackhawk Middle School Hunter Green TShirt BMS SPIRIT WEAR

    Hello Blackhawk students and families!  The PTO webstore is now open to order your Blackhawk Middle School spirit wear. All orders must be placed by Monday, September 30. Your order will be available for pickup after October 14.

  • EIGHTH GRADE PSAT 

    REMINDER: Eighth graders will take the PSAT on Saturday, October 5, at Fenton High School. Students should arrive by 7:45 a.m. and complete the test by 11 a.m. (12:30 p.m. for students receiving extended time). Eighth-grade students will be sent home with more information on the PSAT on Friday, September 27. Please be on the lookout for this important letter from Fenton High School.

  • BMS LITERACY NIGHT

    Students and families are invited to BMS Literacy Night from 6-7:30 on Tuesday, October 1. The evening will feature Skype sessions with "Spooky Middle Grade Authors" Kim VEntrella, Jonathan Rosen, Samantha Clark, and S.A. Larsen. Other activities include the Scholastic Book Fair, a poetry slam room, reading bingo, crafts, snacks, and - of course - READING!

  • GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS

    Tryouts for Blackhawk's seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball teams will be held Wednesday and Thursday, September 25 and 26. 

    September 25

    • Seventh Grade: 3:30-5 p.m.
    • Eighth Grade: 5-6:30 p.m.

    September 26

    • Eighth Grade: 3:30-5 p.m.
    •  Seventh Grade: 5-6:30 p.m.

  • STEM ACTIVITIES ON EARLY RELEASE TUESDAYS

    The Center for the Gifted is providing free after-school STEM programming for middle school students on early release Tuesdays at Bensenville Community Public Library. The activities will be available on a first-come-first-served basis to the first 60 BMS students in attendance.

  • SIXTH GRADE CUPCAKES & CONVERSATION

    Parents of sixth-grade students are invited to join an informal gathering with sixth-grade teachers and administrators at noon on Wednesday, September 25, in the BMS Learning Center. Parents can ask questions about the school, give suggestions, follow teachers' social media accounts, or just chat!

  • SIXTH GRADE MURAL PROJECT

    Sixth graders are invited to participate in a collaborative mural project with Chicago artist Jeff Abbey Maldonado. The students will have the opportunity to create a positive statement of empowerment through a youth-produced, outdoor mural that redefines their learning space. The design of the project will be student-led and focused on community and culture. The finished mural will be located on the eastside of Blackhawk Middle School, near Church Road.

  • SUBSTANCE ABUSE & VAPING

    Through its Full Service Community Schools Program, District 2 is partnering with Project HELP to offer a substance abuse and vaping workshop for students and parents in September.

    Student presentations will be held by grade level throughout the day on Monday, September 23. 

    Parent workshops will be presented in Spanish on Friday, September 27, and in English on Monday, September 30. Both presentation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at Blackhawk.

  • TRANSLATORS NEEDED

    If you can speak a second language, you can assist students and families at our parent-teacher conferences and at other times during the school year. If you would be interested in volunteering your time as a translator, please fill fill out the form below and return it to your child's school.
