Test Anxiety

  • Helping Your Child With Test Anxiety

    • Talk to your child and ask questions about her experience with tests. What are her fears about testing? That she will fail? That her classmates or teachers will think she is dumb? Listen to her and reassure her.

    • Do not yell at or demean your child for low test scores or allow others to do so.

    • Be clear about your expectations related to test taking. For example: that she will study, do her best on tests, and that you will work with her on any problems that she has.

    • Limit TV and computer time. Find educational programs and other materials that reinforce the class work. Be a good role: Make learning interesting and fun.
