    Passion

After a decade of being a school administrator and a parent myself, I realize more than ever that communication is one of the most important aspects of a successful school--yet sometimes most overlooked or poorly practiced. I'm interested in exploring new and more efficient ways of increasing school to home and home to school communication. As our school begins to rebrand homework as homelearning through the integration of flipped learning opportunities, I feel more than ever a need to improve our methods of communication. It can be tough to make this occur at the middle school level but arguably is the most critical time in a child's development.

    Passion

I am excited to join Blackhawk Middle School as Assistant Principal and look forward to working with our students, staff, parents, and community members.  Working with middle school students for the majority of my career, I understand the importance of being a positive and constructive role model for all students who enter our school. It is our responsibility to ensure all children have the opportunity to succeed at Blackhawk Middle School. In order for this to happen, we must develop a forward-looking, technologically enhanced, and motivating learning environment. We must acknowledge and appropriately reward hard work and self-growth. As a school leader, I am committed to working with our staff to provide a high-quality education for all students that supports their growth and development socially, emotionally, and academically as they become lifelong learners.

    Passion

I am passionate about equity in education, culturally responsive teaching and relentlessly supporting teachers in instructional growth. I strive to always provide support for the academic and emotional needs in every classroom. I am a proud Puerto Rican, first-generation high school and college graduate. I was born and raised in Chicago. I have 3 wonderful daughters, Areanna (22), Leila (13), and Olivia (8) and my favorite non-human, Rico the dog, my Yorkie. My second homes are on the east coast in New York and New Jersey, where I spent much of my early childhood. I also lived in Miami, Florida, when I was a young adult, and I love to vacation there whenever possible. My favorite things are a good book, great music and enjoying the sun outdoors. I am very excited about  joining the Blackhawk Middle School community and serving the students of Bensenville.
