NEW SUPERINTENDENT: BSD2 Board names Dr. Katie McCluskey the District’s new leader
Dr. McCluskey has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Accountability for Glen Ellyn District 41 since July 2017. She will begin her work in District 2 on July 1, 2022.

SHIELD UPDATE: COVID screening has concluded for the current school year
Monday, May 16, was the final SHIELD screening of the 2021-2022 school year in District 2. Testing will not be offered during the last week of the school year, or for summer school and summer enrichment programs.

CLASS OF 2022: Save the date for Blackhawk's eighth grade promotion
Blackhawk Middle School will hold its eighth-grade promotion ceremony on Thursday, May 26, in the field house at Fenton High School, 1000 W. Green Street, Bensenville.

PARENT LETTER: CogAT results and screening for gifted services
Students within the District that qualify for “gifted programming” will continue to receive their accelerated instruction which aligns with their abilities. Additionally, we will further utilize the expertise of our gifted teachers to increase the rigor and challenge for all students who are ready for these opportunities.

FREE DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING: Nobody knows your child better than you
Bensenville School District 2 will conduct free developmental screenings for children ages 2-5 on Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29. These screenings are the first step in identifying children for our Preschool for All program and/or Head Start. Call the Tioga School office at 630-766-2602 ext. 4200 to schedule an appointment for your child’s screening.

ROOM TO GROW: Take a virtual tour of the Bensenville Early Learning Center's recently completed expansion project!
The six-classroom expansion of this facility will allow the District to meet the projected demand for preschool for at-risk students while also adding much-needed space for K-5 special education programs.

COVID UPDATE: Symptomatic students still need to stay home
Symptomatic students will still be sent home and are still subject to the District’s quarantine protocols

POWERSCHOOL: Everyone will benefit from the District’s new student information system
PowerSchool supports more than 45 million students globally, including those at Fenton High School. Its user-friendly interface makes it a much easier system to navigate for all users, particularly parents, and its numerous customized reports will help the District identify trends and measure their impact in areas such as attendance, discipline, and grading.

COVID UPDATE: Masks on buses, reporting close contacts, and the CDC’s new risk metrics
The CDC is now assessing COVID risks on a county-by-county basis. DuPage County (and all of northeast Illinois) is at the lowest risk level. This is good news. It’s another indication that we are in a strong position to make the required changes we’ve recently made to our COVID mitigation plans.

COVID UPDATE: Our masking and quarantine requirements are changing
Mask wearing is now highly recommended in District 2 schools, not required. Additionally, students and staff will only be required to quarantine if they are experiencing COVID symptoms.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: BSD2 Board approves official 2022-2023 school calendar

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE: eLearning Days have replaced emergency ‘snow days’
District 2 will now call eLearning Days when closing schools due to extreme weather. An eLearning Day will count as a regular school day, and will not require the District to use a built-in emergency day at the end of the school year
