CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Two confirmed cases among staff
Two staff members were diagnosed with COVID this week. One works at W.A. Johnson School and one at Tioga School. Both will remain away from the District until meeting requirements set by the state and county health departments. There was one close contact at Johnson.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: District reports first confirmed case and close contacts among students
A Johnson student was diagnosed with COVID over the weekend, and will remain home until cleared by the DuPage County Health Department. Two other students from that student’s afternoon bus were close contacts, and they will also stay home. No one from the classrooms at W.A. Johnson School or from the morning bus was a close contact.

BILINGUAL & BILITERATE: Parents interested in new BSD2 Dual Language Program should attend March 4 online information meeting
The informative online presentation and Q&A session with Dr. Sonia Soltero will be offered in both English and Spanish. Dr. Soltero is a DePaul University professor who has more than 30 years of experience in the field of bilingual and dual language education, and she has consulted District 2 in the design and implementation of this program.

BILINGUAL & BILITERATE: New program provides students instruction in both English and Spanish
Last year, District 2 announced the creation of a new two-way dual language program. However, it postponed the program's implementation this year due to COVID. Now, it tentatively plans to launch the program next year at kindergarten, and expand it each year through fifth grade.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Contractor is District's first case in two and a half weeks
A contractor for the District was diagnosed with COVID this week. This contractor was outdoors and alone for most of the two days he/she worked in the District before being tested, and will remain away from the District until meeting requirements set by the state and county health departments. There were no close contacts in the District.
