UPDATED: Summer Parent Series to explore a variety of important issues for BSD2 families

Logo of the U.S. Department of Education Through its Full Service Community Schools program, Bensenville School District 2 is offering a Summer Parent Series that will explore a variety of important issues for families.

Morning and evening presentations are scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday through July 30. Presentations will be held in the Early Childhood Center at Tioga School, 212 W. Memorial Road.

Food and child care will be provided, and transportation is available for morning presentations.

The Center for the Gifted will also offer free STEM activities for students during Tuesday morning presentations. (Click here for flyer.)

MORNING PRESENTATIONS

Morning presentations will be offered in English from 9-10:30 a.m., and in Spanish from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and are as follows:

  • July 9: Child development presented by the YWCA
  • July 11: Managing the school system presented by the YWCA
  • July 16: Nutrition presented by Sylvia Klinger
  • July 18: Discipline presented by Metropolitan Family Services 
  • July 23: Communicating with teens, Part 1, presented by Parenting Fundamentals
  • July 25: Communicating with teens, Part 2, presented by Parenting Fundamentals
  • July 29-31: Active parenting for ages birth to 5 presented by the YWCA   

EVENING PRESENTATIONS

Evening presentations will be offered in Spanish from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and in English from 7-8 p.m. and are as follows:

  • July 11: Mental health presented by the YWCA
  • July 16: Healthy eating and diabetes presented by VNA
  • July 18: STOP IT! Initiative Against Human Trafficking presented by the Salvation Army
  • July 23: Social media, Part 1, presented by the YWCA
  • July 25: Addiction, substance abuse, and vaping presented by the YWCA
  • July 30: Social media, Part 2, presented by the YWCA
