KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services offering information on 'immigration basics'
Kimberly Fay, an attorney from the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services, will host a discussion dedicated to the changes in immigration law and "Know Your Rights" topics on Thursday, December 5, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Tioga School, 212 W. Memorial Road, Bensenville. (Enter through Door 17.)
The presentation will be held in Spanish only, and will cover the following:
Rights of non-citizens in public: Constitutional rights that apply to all people regardless of citizenship.
Rights of non-citizens in the workplace: Learn about your workplace rights and the Legal Aid Society's new Wage THeft Project.
Rights of crime survivors: How the Legal Aid Society can help, crime victim compensation, and victim rights enforcement.
Updates on public charge and DACA: The new final rule for public charge caused a lot of confusion; the Legal Aid Society will sort through it and talk about the latest with DACA.
