KNOW YOUR RIGHTS: Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services offering information on 'immigration basics'

Image of the Metropolitan Family Services logo Kimberly Fay, an attorney from the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services, will host a discussion dedicated to the changes in immigration law and "Know Your Rights" topics on Thursday, December 5, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Tioga School, 212 W. Memorial Road, Bensenville. (Enter through Door 17.)

The presentation will be held in Spanish only, and will cover the following:

  • Rights of non-citizens in public: Constitutional rights that apply to all people regardless of citizenship.

  • Rights of non-citizens in the workplace: Learn about your workplace rights and the Legal Aid Society's new Wage THeft Project.

  • Rights of crime survivors: How the Legal Aid Society can help, crime victim compensation, and victim rights enforcement. 
  • Updates on public charge and DACA: The new final rule for public charge caused a lot of confusion; the Legal Aid Society will sort through it and talk about the latest with DACA.
