TRULY HONORED: BSD2 Board, Superintendent agree on three-year contract extension
The Board of Education and Dr. Jim Stelter, Superintendent of Schools, agreed to renew Dr. Stelter's contract for three years. This will extend his service to the BSD2 community through mid-2024.
“I am truly honored in the confidence the Board of Education has in me and the amazing team of teachers, support staff and administrators that help me every day to do this great work supporting our students and families," said Dr. Stelter.
Key goals in Dr. Stelter's contract include student achievement, growth and continuous learning, student life and safety, and managing resources efficiently and effectively.
Board members approved the contract at their December 16 meeting, and highlighted Dr. Stelter's contributions since becoming superintendent in 2010.
Board President Laudadio shared the following highlights under Dr. Stelter’s leadership:
All Bensenville schools are rated Commendable by the state.
The District has been very successful in developing students’ 21st century learning skills.
$10 Million of U.S. Department of Education competitive grants were awarded to support embedding critical and creative thinking, enhancing after-school programming, mental health, expanding early childhood, home visiting and family advocacy work with the community.
The District completed $80 million of new school construction and renovation without a tax increase.
The 2018-2021 Strategic Plan was developed and is being successfully implemented.
The District maintains a strong financial position with an S&P AA+ rating, among the highest in the state.
The District received numerous “Those Who Excel” awards from the state with the most recent being an Award of Excellence for the District's home visit program.
