ONWARD & UPWARD: Blackhawk's eighth graders are ready to head to high school
Blackhawk Middle School’s eighth graders celebrated the completion of their District 2 careers during their promotion ceremony held Thursday, June 1, at Fenton High School.
Among the 229 eighth graders who participated in the ceremony, the following students were recognized with special awards:
BLACKHAWK FACULTY MEMORIAL AWARD | Anaya Blissit & Oswal Zamora
- Criteria: Presented by the faculty of Blackhawk Middle School to honor the memory of teachers who passed away while in service. The award is given to two eighth-graders who show respect for adults, peers, and property, excel in academics, participate in school activities and/or athletics, and attend school and school-related activities on a regular basis.
- Selected by: Blackhawk Middle School faculty
- Award/Recognition: $200 check
BENSENVILLE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION AWARD | Josemaria Alvarado
- Criteria: Presented to an eighth-grader who demonstrates high academic achievement, citizenship, responsibility, and attendance in District 2 schools since kindergarten.
- Selected by: Blackhawk Middle School faculty
- Award/Recognition: $100 Visa gift card
FENTON EDUCATION ASSOCIATION AWARD | Ameera Saadeh & Josue Bucio Duran
- Criteria: Presented to two eighth-graders who exhibit leadership, citizenship, scholarship, dependability, and cooperation.
- Selected by: Eighth-grade student body
- Award/Recognition: $50 check and name engraved on a plaque in the hallway
SERVICE ABOVE SELF AWARD | Carolina Herrera Reyes & Alonso Romero
- Criteria: Presented by the Bensenville-Wood Dale Rotary Club to two eighth-grade students who exhibit leadership, citizenship, scholarship, dependability, and cooperation.
- Selected by: Eighth-grade student body
- Award/Recognition: $50 check and name engraved on a plaque in the hallway
BMS I BELONG AWARD | Ramiyah Green & Aysiah Perez
- Criteria: Presented to two eighth-graders who are flexible, respectful, hard-working, positive role models, and respected by both teachers and students.
- Selected by: Dr. Perry Finch, Principal, and Assistant Principals Zack Ettelbrick and Nataly Lopez
- Award/Recognition: $50 gift card and name engraved on a plaque in the hallway
HAWKS RECOGNITION | Josemaria Alvarado
- Criteria: Presented to an eighth-grade Hawk who demonstrates exceptional service and character.
- Selected by: The Hawks who volunteered the greatest amount of their time at Blackhawk and in the community throughout the school year.
- Award/Recognition: $25 gift card
