The District 2 Board of Education approved the 2021-2022 budget at its September 15 meeting.

The budget authorizes about $43.6 million of spending, paid for with about $41.3 million in revenue. The projected deficit is about $2.35 milion.

The budget includes $3.75 million of construction expenses for the addition to the Bensenville Early Learning Center at Tioga School. The cost of this project will be covered by cash reserves and bond proceeds leftover from previous construction projects. Completion of this project is expected later this year.

The budget would project a $1.4 million surplus without that spending from the District's cash reserves, which is allowing the District to continue improving and expanding its facilities without a tax increase.
